THE FIRST SWIMSUIT BRAND 'MADE IN RD
Ozeano Swimwear is the first 'Made in DR' swimwear brand, made from recycled plastic bottles with the purpose of saving our oceans.
Idea
It was born from these entrepreneurs when they realized that the community of female surfers did not have local brands of sports swimsuits that had a differentiated touch. Thus, Ozeano was conceived, in the first instance, to offer functional, high-quality swimwear far from the “boring designs” that proliferated in the market until that time, but always with the clear purpose of contributing “something positive to our surroundings and environment.”
Social impact
These entrepreneurs initially decided to allocate a percentage of sales to the Reef Check RD foundation, dedicated to the preservation of marine ecosystems. But they had to go further. And this is how this company was established as an ecological brand to reduce its footprint and environmental impact, using as raw material one of the main enemies of the oceans: plastic bottles.
The hardest
"Uncertainty". As Shaina, trained in hotel management, acknowledges, she had no experience in the textile industry. But leaving aside his fears, and after dedicating a full year to researching this sector, he decided to invest the only savings he had, RD$100,000, in a dream that he was not sure would become a reality. The extensive growth they have had in this time speaks for itself. And its participation in the ASONAHORES Fair last year was a “before and after” on this path.
Challenge
In this second stage, their biggest challenge is to keep up with the pace they are reaching, seeking the “economic push” they need to reach the next level in this great ocean of opportunities.

Mi nombre es Valeria y estoy desarrollando una nueva marca de trajes de baño llamada Solé Swim, con base en Puerto Rico.
Me interesa explorar opciones de fabricación en República Dominicana por la cercanía con Puerto Rico y la posibilidad de desarrollar una relación a largo plazo con un fabricante del Caribe.
Actualmente estoy planificando una primera colección de aproximadamente 200 sets de bikinis, posiblemente divididos en cuatro colores. Busco diseños con corte brasileño, telas de buena calidad, forro, etiquetas personalizadas, empaque con la marca y un pequeño charm personalizado en forma de sol.
